49/365 - I is for Icicle

A water drop, just barely holding on to an icicle.
Click the photo to see it on Flickr.

I is for Icicle, and the water drops dripping from it! It's not actually that warm here -- but it is beautifully sunny and clear. The sun has started a bit of a melt among the icicles hanging above our back door. This one was just barely hanging on!

Wow, what an awesome shot of a perfect sphere. Did you have to take dozens of bursts shots to get the right one?

This is phenominal. If it were just the icicle, it'd be a little meh. But to get in close (close-up or macro lens?), and then to wait for the water drop....awesome.

Sky as the background? Or did you place something behind?

@Summer: Yes, that's basically what I did. Standing in my back door, with the housemates complaining about the breeze. :P

@D. Travis North: Thanks! No, not a macro lens -- just my handy Nikon 18-200! I actually would love a macro lens, to get a bit better image quality and closer focus. The sky is the background, but heavily vignetted in post-processing.
