I do want to go back, with a tripod and some filters, and see what I can do. But being there at the right time, with the sunlight making this rainbow, was great luck. :)DChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12433176037815688789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509149353007705957.post-24340567579424965112009-08-04T15:16:58.531-04:002009-08-04T15:16:58.531-04:00As far back as I've been able to find, the Dea...As far back as I've been able to find, the Dead River was named Riviere de Mort by the French. There was a huge waterfall on it covered in mists, and local Indians believed that the mists carried the spirits of the dead. Which waterfall is questionable - the Dead River has two large drops between McClure Dam and LS&SI trestle, six (or so) upstream of the Forestville Basin, and another two by Wright Streat. I've also heard rumors of several large waterfalls being covered up by the dams - especially the McClure Dam.

Another interesting bit about this particular drop - local kids like to jump off the rocks here into the water. There's several pools/falls downstream for this as well, but if you search on YouTube for Dead River, you'll bump into a few videos of this drop.

@dcclark if this was an accident, I'd love to see what you can do with your tripod on these drops :Pjpemerichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05784985391591999274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509149353007705957.post-87304076308923951332009-08-03T11:06:26.802-04:002009-08-03T11:06:26.802-04:00is it possible to order this picture? thanks :)is it possible to order this picture? thanks :)Sarah Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02982328046721055185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509149353007705957.post-16629449937970082182009-08-03T07:31:05.934-04:002009-08-03T07:31:05.934-04:00@jpemeric: Thanks!
