It looks like there's something tied to the handle. I wonder if it's marking something.
Love the color contrast; hate the pollution. I find things like this on my walks with Jack when people have either lost or tossed things from snowmobiles and 4-wheelers.
@Laura: We have a saying: it's not a copper country hike until you've seen a major kitchen appliance.
