Too bad that guy didn't make it...looks like it would have had a ton of character. I love shooting trees, I think it really shows how complex simple forms can be (does that make any sense?).
Side note - I think that is either a Birch or a Cherry. Both have similar bark...and in B&W it's hard to tell. Cherry would have a darker bark. Birch would be white, grey or a pale (really pale) brownish green.
