Purple flowers somehow survive on the bare basalt at Seven Mile Point -- a rugged and beautiful nature preserve on the Lake Superior shore.

A Fire Wheel -- a daisy-like wildflower found alongside an old logging road.

Sky and Fanny Hooe

The view from the Brockway Mountain "nose", looking towards Copper Harbor and Lake Fanny Hooe. This is a wonderful spot to watch the Copper Harbor fireworks on the 4th of July as well.

Wild Daisies

Wild daisies grow in and among abandoned equipment, at the Quincy Mine. Believe it or not, this wheel belongs to a very old cement mixer.

Storm's coming

Sunset at Breakers, near Houghton.

I was hoping for a beautiful sunset -- but the storm clouds were still on the horizon. While taking this photo there were thunder and lightning out over the lake.
